We are the only species systematically destroying its own habitat
Rainforests are incredibly diverse and complex ecosystems which help maintain the environmental balance across the globe. Twenty five percent of today’s western pharmaceuticals were derived from the rainforests yet less than 1% of its trees and plants have been studied. The world is losing 50 football fields of old growth every minute. Thousand year old trees, which have flourished since Genghis Kahn invaded China, are being cut down to make toilet paper and hardwood floors. 50,000 plant and animal species are wiped out annually from deforestation. This means one species is becoming extinct every twelve minutes. Save the rainforest is on a mission to educate and engage people from every part of the globe on the importance of the conservation and preservation of our rainforests.
